News Limited moves to the coast 14th April, 2004

SEACHANGE FOR NEWS LIMITED
News Limited, the biggest newspaper publisher in Australia, selected
Janison to provide a Learning Management System for its journalists.
Janison won the tender from a field of larger Australian and overseas competitors to provide software to manage online teaching and learning for News Limited.
Janison is an indication of the quality of IT companies which have based themselves in regional Australia.
More than 3000 of News Limited’s editorial staff, from cadets through to
editors across Australia, Papua New Guinea and Fiji, will have access to the
company’s online training programs using the Janison Toolbox.

Janison adds this latest coastal convert to a recent trawl of SA TAFE, the
Yale University Center for Media Initiatives and Knox Grammar. The directors of the company think that some of their success is due to their background as teachers in regional NSW. Wayne Houlden, Managing Director, believes it’s this experience that has given Janison the edge over the overseas giants. “ We are teachers who saw a need for good online training software that suited the local students, and that’s what we have developed”.

News Limited Group Editorial Development Manager Lucinda Duckett said Janison emerged as the clear winner of the new contract after an exhaustive tendering process.
“Janison not only met all our criteria but exceeded our requirements,” she
said. “After four years’ training our journalists online, we’re excited
about the potential that Janison gives us to further improve our high-quality in-house education.”
