TAFE NSW

The TAFE Online Project became a catalyst to springboard TAFE into online training. Janison has supported TAFE throughout all stages of this process which now sees the Janison LMS in over 130 campuses throughout the state and worldwide.

The project has been a major catalyst for change in the way TAFE NSW has been able to extend and enhance its services to students in NSW, across Australia, and overseas. Managing Director of TAFE NSW, Jan McClelland, said more than 17,000 students are engaged in online learning.

"There are more than 600 teachers trained in how to support online students and more than 300 have been trained in learningware development skills," Ms McClelland said. "After just two years of roll-out, TAFE NSW online platform materials are being used by teachers on more than 85 per cent of TAFE NSW campuses."

The program's immediate goal is 600 online modules in 150 course frameworks by the end of 2003.

"By the end of 2004, we should have more than 60,000 TAFE NSW students taking part in web-assisted e-learning program," Ms McClelland said.

TAFE Online learningware is already available in more than 30 fields, including: Accounting; Business Studies; Strategic Management; Marketing; Human Resources; Tourism; Hospitality; Aged Care; Mining and Quarrying; Natural Resources Management; Environmental Technology; General Construction, and Workplace Training and Assessment.
